Who or What is a Micro-Merchant?
|
|
If we wanted to guess, we could say they are the businesses who fall into the 31% of the National Retail Federation who make less than $1,000,000 per year in annual sales. Or, we might be the group that the Census itself says are those "unemployer" businesses with fewer than 20 employees.
We prefer to think of ourselves as the people that pop into mind when someone says a local, small town Mom & Pop (or any variation thereof) that reflects the family-character of small-city commercial districts. We're starting with the following general guidelines, however, to help clarify the situation a bit. As we evolve, we may change to make this work for our interests, as long as our focus remains on that which is responsive of the spirit of American businesses of home!
Do you think you belong to this fine group?

- Individuals or a family that came together to start your store or service.
- An entity that pretty much acts as though you are a sole proprietory, though sole doesn't quite fit.
- A fine corporation, though that word seems a bit roomy.
- A business whose work ethic reflect the neighborhood it's located in.
- A commerical place that measures being a part of the community as much as being part of a fortune anything.
- A employer where the concept of employee feels kind of cold.
- An enterprise that at least thinks twice about farming out just about anything the owners can do.
- The kind of operation that includes "windows and floors" in what might otherwise be the description of a CEsomething.
- A small group of enterprising people who have a good idea that needs a place to be shared.
- The kind of business where you smile when a consultant talks about your team, and you think about the kids!
